The term off the grid refers to a method of construction that relies on renewable energy sources rather than traditional public utility sources provided by the utility "grid." In such construction, the home or building constructed does not rely on municipal water supply, sewer, gas, electrical or similar utility services. A true "off the grid" house is able to operate completely independently of traditional public utility services.

Small Solar Power System for Off Grid Cabin
This Small Solar Power System produces about 1.0 kWh to 1.5 kWh (usable) on a sunny day. It will run high efficiency lighting, 19" TV/VCR, stereo, laptop computer, blender, and DC submersible and pressurized water pump. While it's best to have a system designed for your specific situation, this small solar power system for a remote home works for many applications.
To power an energy efficient refrigerator you would need to add an additional 320 Watts of solar panels or you could use a propane refrigerator.

Batteries not included. System will operate with 2, 4, 6, or 8 6 volt deep cycle batteries. System is designed for four 6 volt batteries. It is usually more cost effective to purchase the batteries locally (unless you are ordering 12 or more). Surrette and sealed batteries are available from us in small quatities.
