Sanyo Electric has been doing electronics since 1947. With strong experience, 1979 created the World's first amorphous silicon solar batteries (cell). A single cell design, Sanyo modules are categorized as a Premium module of high performance and solid construction. Sanyo's commitment toward product improvment has allowed them to achieve the world record for power conversion at 20% in 1994 using HIT solar cell technology with the collaboration with Solec International, one of the oldest solar cell and module manufacturers. They repeated this feat again in 2009, achieving the world's highest energy conversion efficiency of 23.0%.

The patented HIT Hybrid Technology module output, often out performs other modules even during hazy days. Rating from the California Energy Commission ranks them one of the highest allowing a sound return on the investment with increased rebate rates. The single cell design allows high efficiency and better performance, especially in warmer or hot climates. Their modules have an above average PTC/STC ratio (better than 92%) which means that they will produce closer to their STC rating than most other modules during hot summer days.

The Sanyo module has UL and CEC ratings and available with ARRA certification.
