David Hughes

President CEO

David started Affordable Solar in 1998 in a rundown Airstream trailer parked in his back yard. He has sold, consulted and managed in the renewable energy and energy efficiency fields for more than 20 years. Born in Montreal, David went to school in England and university in Scotland and has degrees in History/Philosophy and Environmental Technology. David’s personal credo is play hard, do good, have fun, and prosper.

Bob Dawson

Chief Financial Officer

Bob joined Affordable Solar in '06 after 30 years experience in the building products industry. In his prior life, he was a CPA after receiving his MBA from Tulane University. Bob managed a variety of functions with Masonite Corporation, a fortune 100 building products company, for 20 years. His tasks included finance and administration, customer service, distribution and information services. "Integrity in a company is the vital criteria for me and, in that respect, Affordable Solar exceeds all of my expectations both in business dealings with customers and relations with employees. Second criteria? It's gotta be fun! If it's not fun, it's work… and I'm too old for that!"

Aaron Cabral

As a graduate of UNM in Physics, Aaron has been able to utilize his education to help with the design engineering of many of our projects. With over four years experience in the solar industry Aaron is an excellent grid-tie and NEC code resource. Often called by his co-workers the "grid-tie guru" Aaron's passions are not only with renewable energy, but wine making as well.

Nestor Tarango

Sales Manager

Nestor Tarango is passionate about effecting change in the world through spiritual reformation, personal discipline, global policy, and rational thinking. He has served in the renewable energy industry since 2003 working with photovoltaic companies across the country to promote energy independence and financial security. Nestor is an avid learner, holds an associate’s degree from Central New Mexico community college, and is a current student of philosophy and business at the University of New Mexico.

Annette Verderosa

Service Analyst

After working in the fashion industry for 15 years, for YSL and Liz Claiborne in Sales and Merchandising. Annette moved out to Santa Fe, finding she needed to recreate herself for an alternative career. She began to work with Conergy under sales and customer support. At Conergy for 6 years, Annette felt she had found an industry she could be passionate about. Afterward, she found herself a member of the ASG family where she puts her passion in the aid of our customers.

Jim Kacerguis

Web Manager/IT

As a graduate from the University of Connecticut, Jim utilizes his skills in Management Information Systems to help the computer side of Affordable Solar run smoothly. He has found the job to be challenging and exciting because of the multiple disciplines that he has had the opportunity to work with. Jim finds that working in this environment has helped him to gain a broader knowledge in the solar field, which has helped to increase his awareness in the sustainable frontier. Outside of work, he is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys video games.

Nick Babic

Director, Project Development

With a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin and over 15 years of project coordination, technical sales, marketing, and business development experience, Nick is dedicated to helping his commercial customers arrive at the best possible, cost effective solution to their needs. Nick loves the Affordable Solar culture and our dedication to customer service and teamwork.

Kevin Cappleman

Warehouse Manager


With a bachelor’s degree in Economics from UNM, Kevin came to Affordable Solar looking to bring new ideas and procedure to the warehouse. He believes that the next order is just as important as the last and strives to provide care and accuracy to every order that leaves the warehouse. Kevin is constantly looking for ways to improve customer satisfaction.

Angela Lujan

Account Manager/Support Analyst

Angela comes to us with over 10 years of customer service and facilities operations experience. She has previous experience from another solar company and has now joined the Affordable Solar team and is excited to continue her career in the solar industry. Angela loves talking with the customers who call in and continues to learn more about solar each and every day. "I love that I learn everyday in my job and get to share that knowledge with my customers."

Patrick Higgins

Account Manager

Patrick has always held an interest in the environment and coming to its aid. After Graduating as Summa Cum-Laude from UNM's College of Earth and Planetary Sciences, with a degree in Environmental Science, Patrick worked at Verizon Wireless. One day, he met an employee from Affordable Solar; from that moment on he was hooked on the company. He has been working with Affordable Solar since 2007 and is NABCEP knowledge level certified. "I really enjoy what I do; every day I come here I'm making an impact." A strong believer in the idea that one person can make a difference, Patrick loves to spend time with his son; and hopes to spend the rest of his career in an environmental or alternative energy role.

Tyler Brown

Marketing and Design

With a diverse backround in welding/machining, graphic design, and education, Tyler is now pursuing a master's degree in yet another field of study. A graduate of UNM and 3rd generation Albuquerquean, Tyler likes to travel internationally when time permits. As a self-proclaimed neo-hippie, he has attempted to travel to all corners of the world in search of what can be the answer to world peace. He's found that answer here, and it's solar electricity.

Nick Bachicha

Master Chief/Web Specialist

Currently a student at the University of New Mexico with a Graduation date not far in the distance. Nick uses his understanding of technology to help the website and computers at Affordable Solar run to the best of their abilities. Nick has had great experiences with Affordable Solar and has been working with the company on and off for the last five years.

Reme Meck

Design Engineer

A chance internship with Affordable Solar in 2005 opened Reme's eyes to the potential energy in the sun, and he has never looked back. Coming from the Rochester Institute of Technology where he studied Mechanical Engineering, Reme brings his unique skill set to bear on system design and solar education. Reme has an earnest gusto for solar power systems and a desire to alleviate the energy crunch. In his free time, Reme enjoys rock climbing, reading, and the company of his friends and family.

Nicole Enciso

Support Analyst

Before joining the Affordable Solar family, Nicole spent five years as a supervisor for New Mexico Relay. At Affordable Solar, Nicole feels right at home. "I think this is a really great place to work, with tons of opportunities for growth, I am excited about being a part of the Solar industry and to be working with such wonderful people."

Derek Fannin

Account Manager

Derek comes to Affordable Solar with a variety of different work experience. He is a dedicated, resourceful self-starter with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. A native of Albuquerque, Derek is inspired to expand this company and help to grow the renewable energy industry globally. Affordable Solar is an outstanding place to work with a family of great representatives that have an ultimate goal at the forefront.

Ian Looney

Account Manager

Ian comes to Affordable with an extensive background in electronics engineering and hardware sales. He retired from the engineering world in 1992 and began a new career at the management level with both Greenpeace and Clean Water Action in San Francisco, California. In that capacity, Ian worked on human rights campaigns during the Sandanista wars in Chiapas, Mexico. He also spent several years installing and monitoring small off-grid PV systems providing power for pumping clean water into many autonomous Mayan villages throughout the Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Guatemala. His personal beliefs and the company vision are a perfect match and he believes passionately that the best is yet to come.

Drew Swope

Account Manager

Hailing from Cloudcroft, New Mexico, Drew began his days with Affordable Solar in the warehouse in early 2010. Making his way up the ranks, Drew joined the sales force in late 2010. Now with 2 years under his belt, Drew is a Wholesale Account Manager and currently holds a NABCEP Certificate of Knowledge. On his free time Drew enjoys spending time with his family and watching/playing competitive sports.

Anthony Raniere

Anthony comes to Affordable Solar with a wealth of industry knowledge that he gained by working with Conergy for over 5 years. Bringing a fun, light-hearted attitude to an already relaxed atmosphere, he has become a key asset to the team for both strategy and decision-making.

Mariam Arya

Accounting and Product Specialist

As a true-to-definition world traveler, Mariam has been to most corners of the world that people only dream of. After finishing her degree at Boston University, she spent a year teaching in China and then returned back to her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico to join the Affordable Solar team in 2010. Mariam's Affordable Solar tenure carries back to 2006, and her experience shines as she's now one of the most productive workers on the entire Affordable Solar team.

Jeremy Ewing

After working in technical support and sales at Conergy for four years, Jeremy joined Affordable Solar in 2011. He brings a solutions-driven mindset and a passion for battery-based systems. Jeremy currently resides in Philadelphia, and in his free time enjoys music, hiking, stock market research and board games.
