A cost-effective alternative to assembling everything yourself

These power panels pre-assembled by Trace are usually cheaper to buy than the separate pieces and then to put them together yourself. Panels are available in a range of capacities, DC inputs and AC output configurations and is certified to UL standards by ETL Testing Laboratories as a complete system. If you are looking to assemble your own system, we'd suggest buying a power panel system. It'll save you time, frustration, money and some of the potential dangers of assembling it all yourself. While picking out the right power panel system for yourself, be sure to look at the options available. Add the option to your cart before you check out and they will be included (assembled) with your power panel before it is delivered to you. (Hint: Adding the C40 charge controller option to your power panel - which most folks who are going to use solar panels need anyhow - will greatly speed up the delivery of your order. Why? Trace usually has many panels with the C40 installed already made up and in stock.) In most cases, you will want to add at least the C40 charge controller option so that you may regulate the charge from your solar panels to your batteries. We've noticed there's been some confusion due to the reference to the AC charge controller built-in to the inverter. This is a feature that allows your system work essentially as a large UPS (backup power system). When the power from the grid is functioning the inverter works as a charge controller (using the AC electricity from the grid) and keeps your batteries topped off. When the grid's power fails the inverter then works like an inverter and uses the energy from the charged battery array supplies AC power to your home.

The Details

The SW Series Power Panel includes all National Electric Code (NEC) required components, wiring and safety circuitry. The power panel meets NEMA type 1 environmental standards for indoor mounting only. All power panel systems offer proven Trace Engineering inverters, with all the features, performance and reliability that has made them the industry standard. Each power panel is shipped by truck in a wooden container. The SW Power Panel system comes ready for installation, pre-wired with the following: SW Series pure sinewave AC power inverter with high efficiency and bi-directional (to feed/sell back into the grid) operation, includes:

30 amp AC pass-thru power at 120 VAC (/S=Single system) or 120/240 VAC (/D Dual system)
Adjustable three stage, temperature compensated battery charging
175 or 250 amp DC disconnect breaker*
60 amp AC disconnect/bypass breaker in box*
AC and DC wiring in conduit* (battery cables not included)

Power Panel Systems

Dual Power Panel system (/D) require two battery cable pair. Total battery cable length that is usable is 1 foot less than the length ordered due to 1 foot required in the DC disconnect (e.g. PPO-BC5-2/0 is 5 feet long one-way, but 4 feet usable to the battery bank). ** Battery cables are offered only as an option and are not pre-installed on the power panel.

Shipping

Because power panels are an assembly of various components and a metal backplate, they weigh at least 150 lbs. As a result, power panels cannot be shipped via by UPS and must be shipped by Truck Freight. Shipping cost range widely, depending on size of power panel and distance to be shipped. Panels are shipped directly from Trace (where they are assembled) to reduce middlemen cost and extra shipping charges. Shipping charges can range from $60 - $450 for shipping in the US. Shipping costs for orders that require truck freight currently have to be manually calculated. Once you place your order, you will receive an email within a short period with the description of your order with the shipping costs included. To complete the order you will need to respond with a confirmation that you wish to continue with the order.
